Instructions

  1. Use Foam Cutter to cut 4″ diameter slice off  foam Ball (to set flat on table.) On newspaper-covered work surface, paint Ball black. Let dry.
  2. Refer to photo. With Ball set flat on work surface, wrap pink rick rack around center of Ball from front to back. Use glue gun to spot glue ends on bottom, trimming as needed.
  3. For following rows, use straight pins to hold rick rack in place to allow for repositioning prior to gluing. Turn Ball toward side to see that you are creating curves that are graduated distances apart. When satisfied with position of rows, spot glue in place, removing pins. Glue ends to bottom of Ball.
  4. Check to be sure bottom of ball will lay flat on work surface. If not, firmly push rick rack ends to compress foam. Cut 4″ diameter circle from felt and glue to bottom of Ball, covering rick rack ends.
  5. To make yo-yo flower, trim corners off one fabric square to make circle. With needle and thread, hand sew running stitch 1/4″ from raw edge. Pull up thread to tightly gather and manipulate fabric to position gathers in center of flower. Knot threads and trim ends. Glue button to center of flower. Repeat to make two more flowers.
  6. Measure and use wire cutter to cut dowel into 10″, 11″ and 12″ lengths. For stem, cut 16″ length blue rick rack. Hot glue one end to top of 12″ length dowel and wrap around. Tack glue other end at bottom of dowel. Hot glue flower with blue button to end of stem.
  7. Similarly wrap lengths of rick rack around other two dowels and glue flowers.
  8. To make hole for flower, insert point of scissors to mark top center. Make two more marks in front of and in triangle shape. Push 12″ flower into top center hole. With 10″ and 11″ flowers, hold at desired angle and push into marked holes on Ball.
