Golden Number Cut Out

Instructions

1. Begin by drawing your numbers onto the posterboard and cutting them out to create the templates. Place the templates onto the foam sheets and trace with the black marker.  Utilize the hand saw to cut out the numbers, ensuring the blade remains at a 90-degree angle to the face of the foam to maintain square edges. TIP: If you have a projector, you could project the number template right onto the foam, trace and cut it out to save time.  Use the scrap pieces of foam as sanding blocks to smooth any rough edges. 
2. Work in a well-ventilated area. Lay the numbers on the drop cloth and wear gloves. Hold the can 14” away from the surface of the foam to prevent melting. Do not spray too heavy of a coat as this may melt the foam. Spray one light coat and allow it to dry before applying another coat. While the second coat is still wet, sprinkle with glitter, sprinkle glitter on the numbers. The glitter will adhere to the paint as it dries.  
3. Fill the container with warm water about 98-degrees. Measure the appropriate amount of flower food for the water used and stir until completely dissolved. Place the Designer Spots® foam side down on the water surface and allow them to float freely, soaking up the water without forcing them underwater. The Designer Spots® are completely soaked when air bubbles no longer escape from underneath. 
4. Determine the desired placement of the flower spots on the foam numbers. To create the larger flower spot at the top left of the number shown, secure a palm leaf to the face of the number using floral pins. Center a large Designer Spot® over the palm leaf and secure it with floral pins.  Evenly space orchids into the foam, followed by roses to fill in around the orchids. Repeat this process for a smaller flower spot at the lower right of the numbers, using a small piece of the palm leaf and a small Designer Spot®.
