Large Number Cutout

Instructions

1. Glue two foam sheets together back-to-back to create a 4” thick sheet. Draw the desired number onto the foam sheet. Use the saw to cut out the number. Keep the saw at a 90-degree angle to the surface of the foam while cutting to ensure the edge remains square. Use scrap pieces of foam as sanding blocks to smooth any uneven edges. 
2. Lay out the drop cloth. Use the trowel to coat the foam number with spackling. Apply a thin, even coat and let it dry. Sand lightly and wipe with a lint-free cloth. Apply a second coat to completely fill the cells of the foam. A third coat may be needed around the edge to conceal the seam between the two sheets. Allow it to dry completely before painting. 
3. Lay out the drop cloth, wear disposable gloves, and work in a well-ventilated area. Spray the entire number with a coat of white spray paint. Use a wide sweeping motion and hold the can 12” away to prevent drips. Let it dry. 
4. Spray paint the outside 4” edge of the number pink. Spray from the backside of the number to prevent the pink from covering the white face of the number. Spray lightly with the pink around the outside edge to create an ombre look on the face of the number as shown. Allow it to dry completely. 
5. Create the animal print with black acrylic paint. Let it dry. Add contrast and highlights to the animal print with pink and gold. To add sparkle, while the gold is still wet, sprinkle it with glitter. Let it dry completely. 
6. Cut the dowels to the required length and insert two dowels into the bottom of the number. Then glue them centered into the green foam sheet to stand up the number. 
7. Paint a few tropical leaves with metallic gold spray paint to add highlights to the arrangement. Insert the leaves into the foam sheet, filling in around the number and concealing the foam sheet. Insert the flower blossoms into the leaves around the number.
