Burlap Pumpkin Trio

Large Frayed Pumpkin
- Use the foam cutter to cut 1” off the top and bottom of the 8” ball.
- Cut (20) 28” lengths of burlap. You should get about 12 pieces from one roll. Cut the sewn edges on each side off each piece of burlap and slide 6 or 7 strands off each side to create the frayed edges.
- Find the center strand of each piece. Pull the center strand at each end and gather the burlap to the center. Each gathered piece should measure about 10” long. Check to see if the piece is long enough to reach from just under the bottom edge to the top center of the 8” ball. Glue the center strand at each end to keep the gathered burlap pieces secure. Pin each piece in place around the ball evenly spaced. The very bottom should be left bare to help create the pumpkin shape.
- Cut another 28” piece of burlap for the stem. Cut the sewn edge from one side and slide a few strands off the sides to fray the edge. Roll the piece into a tube and glue it along the edge to secure it. Glue a toothpick into the top of the pumpkin and glue the stem.
- Create a bow with the black chevron wired burlap ribbon and glue it next to the stem.
Medium Curly Pumpkin
- Cut ½” off the top and bottom of the 4” ball using the foam cutter.
- You will need about (100) 5” lengths of burlap to cover the ball. You should get about 72 pieces from one roll. Roll each piece into a tube with the sewn edges at the ends of the tube.
- Fold each tube in half, pin thru the crease of the fold, and secure the tubes evenly spaced around the ball. The very bottom should be left bare to help create the pumpkin shape.
- Cut a 12” length of burlap and the sewn edge off one side for the stem. Slide a few strands off to fray the edge and roll the piece into a tube. Glue a toothpick into the top of the pumpkin and glue the stem.
Small Wrapped Pumpkin
- Cut ½” off the top and bottom of the 5” ball with the foam cutter.
- Cut (16) 9” lengths of burlap. You should get about 40 pieces from one roll.
- Fold each piece into thirds lengthwise. Pin eight of the pieces around the ball evenly spaced. There will be a slight gap between the pieces. Pin the next eight pieces over top of the gaps evenly spaced. Fold the ends of each piece under before you pin at the top and pin from underneath. This hides the pins and the rough cut edges and gives the pumpkin a clean look.
- For the stem, cut about a 10” length of burlap. Fold in half lengthwise and roll into a tube. Glue a toothpick into the top of the ball and glue the stem in place, folded end up. Cut a leaf shape from a piece of burlap and glue it in place by the stem.
