Instructions
- Begin by drawing your heart shape onto the paper. Fold the heart shape in half and use the top portion of the folded heart to trace, beginning on the edge of the white foam sheet. Repeat this process for the bottom portion of the heart on the opposite side of the foam sheet. Carefully cut out both halves of the heart with the hand saw. Be sure to hold the blade of the knife at a 90-degree angle to the surface of the foam to ensure that the edges of the heart are straight.
- Lay down a drop cloth and put on gloves. Work in a well-ventilated area. Paint the top portion of the heart light pink and the bottom portion dark pink. Hold the can 14” away from the surface of the foam while spraying to prevent melting the foam. Apply light coats, allowing each coat to dry before adding another coat. Avoid spraying too heavy too heavily to prevent damage of the foam. Once the project is dry, glue the two halves together.
- Glue the two larger pieces of scrap foam cut from the bottom of the heart together to create the base for the heart to stand on. Cut the corners to create a rounded shape and then paint the base dark pink and allow it to dry.
- Paint a few of the large tropical leaves light pink and let them dry.
- Glue the wood dowel into the bottom edge of the heart so the heart will be tilted on its edge. Glue the heart to the base.
- Glue three pieces of ribbon accents across the front of the heart.
- Use floral pins to attach the tropical leaves to conceal the base, evenly space the pink leaves around to distribute the color.
- Lastly, insert the stems of the florals into the base around the bottom of the heart, spacing them evenly to create a balanced and beautiful arrangement.
