  • FloraCraft® Brand Products:
  • Make It: Fun® Foam: 3 7/8" x 8 7/8" Cone
  • Peel & stick glitter foam sheet (8.85" x 11.8"), one each: red, white, blue and (optional) gold
  • Four 1" x 1 1/4" corks
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Three 1 1/2" tall blue letters to spell U-S-A (can be wood, felt, chipboard, etc.)
  • 8" scissors  (X-ACTO®)
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Paint brush
  • Old newspapers
  • Glue gun and glue sticks (for adult use only)

  1. Remove paper from red glitter foam and wrap around foam Cone aligning with bottom edge. Use pencil to mark where foam overlaps and trim excess with scissors, so that foam just meets. Use scraps to fill in any uncovered areas.
  2. At top of Cone, use scissors to cut out small V-shaped wedges in foam. Press wedges down remaining tabs down to cover Cone. (Ask an adult to use glue gun to attach, if needed.)
  3. Use pencil to trace wing pattern on back of white foam. Turn over pattern and trace second wing. Cut out both with scissors. Cut two 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ strips from red and blue foam. Referring to photo, attach strips to wing about 1/4″ apart and trim excess length to fit.
  4. Ask an adult to use glue gun to glue long edge of wings to sides of shuttle.
  5. On newspaper-covered work surface, paint corks black. Ask an adult to hot glue small ends of corks, evenly spaced, on bottom of shuttle.
  6. Vertically peel and stick (or an adult hot glue) letters to front of shuttle.
  7. Optional: Trace flame pattern four times on gold foam and cut out. For display, position flames on table and set shuttle on top of flames.
